Welcome to my stop on the official blog tour for HEXED by Michelle Krys!!

About the book:

If high school is all about social status, Indigo Blackwood has it made. Sure, her quirky mom owns an occult shop, and a nerd just won’t stop trying to be her friend, but Indie is a popular cheerleader with a football-star boyfriend and a social circle powerful enough to ruin everyone at school. Who wouldn’t want to be her?

Then a guy dies right before her eyes. And the dusty old family Bible her mom is freakishly possessive of is stolen. But it’s when a frustratingly sexy stranger named Bishop enters Indie’s world that she learns her destiny involves a lot more than pom-poms and parties. If she doesn’t get the Bible back, every witch on the planet will die. And that’s seriously bad news for Indie, because according to Bishop, she’s a witch too.

Suddenly forced into a centuries-old war between witches and sorcerers, Indie’s about to uncover the many dark truths about her life—and a future unlike any she ever imagined on top of the cheer pyramid.

My Thoughts:

If you've been following my blog for a while then you've probably guessed that I'm not a HUGE fan of witch/voodoo/warlock/magic type of books.  I don't know what it is about them that steers me away but that's the way it has always been.  However, I'm trying this new thing were I don't judge a book by its genre and if it sounds interesting then I will give it a try.  This is what happened with Hexed.  I saw it on Netgalley and the cover immediately caught my eye and once I read the summary I decided that I had to give this book a try and I'm so glad that I did because it was such a great read.

When we first meet Indigo we quickly see that she is part of the bitchy, mean girl circle.  She's a cheerleader dating a football player and it seems like she has it all.  Her best friend Bianca is main ring leader in the circle and the head bitch.  While it's clear that Indie doesn't always agree with the things that Bianca says or does, she's not about to put herself out there and openly disagree.  I really didn't like this part of Indie, the one that cowers instead of expressing what she believes.

However, once the story moves on, I can see Indie start to grow and actually take a stand for once and I must say that I like that Indie so much more.  Things get weird on the day that Indie's childhood friend and neighbor asks for a ride.  During the ride from school they both witness something that will change everything they thought they knew about the world and from then on they see everything a little differently.

This book has some very interesting characters and some very annoying ones.  While I liked Indie, Paige and Bishop.  I loathed Bianca and Devon from the very beginning.

Overall, Hexed was a very interesting and witchy read that wasn't lacking on magic or action.  Plus, there's a few things that made my jaw hit the floor because I wasn't expecting them.
